Members Moneill17 Posted June 20, 2016 Author Members Posted June 20, 2016 Plug, you fishing that trick worm on the bottom at the docks, or retrieve it along side? I used to be able to catch fish in the wells and along side docks...but haven't been able to get that going. Appreciate the tips
Members Fat Cat Posted June 20, 2016 Members Posted June 20, 2016 Agreed fish are moving around. I ran down to a secret hump I had been crankbaiting on Sunday at 6am. Found 2 boats there. Not as secret as I thought. They had no luck so I moved to the closest dock and caught a 3 lb on a wacky worm Then 2 shorts. all of a sudden everyone's on docks. Funny how that works.
Old plug Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 LlBoth. Actually it is my version of a drop shot. In the evening I like to follow the mid evening shade. Many times the are right on the corners. I love the fishing from about 5pm till about 7pm I think they are just getting into there evening feeding period about that time. And concentrate in those type areas. After the sun comes down towards pick up time it really drops off. I suspect they start ranging out more then. They sit under there. I do not understand it all myself I just know it works a lot of the time this of the year. You do not cast you just go right up to the dock and drop it straight down the edge.

Mike Hey I'm evolving It never made a noticeable difference on my shallow fish, but nothing else has changed except the amount of water being let loose through Bagnell and the deeper fish I was catching have flipped a switch. They are still biting but the way they were biting has changed. The bite for me yesterday was almost imperceptible and they weren't holding on but for maybe 2 seconds. I don't think I was feeling them bite, but rather feeling them spit it back out. I'm not entirely convinced that the water movement is the reason why..... but I'll blame it on that until I learn otherwise. The same fish that Old Plug catches on his hotrod dropshot I can usually get to eat a 10" worm with a 1/8oz. weight just slow-falling it on 20# line. If the line goes slack before it should be hitting bottom, JERK! I don't have the patience to sit and shake a worm somewhere unless I know for a fact that a fish is there.
nomolites Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Glad to see you have an open mind! This late in the year I am almost exclusively in open water for my deal and my observation(or imagination) is current will position the fish but not necessarily make them accept my offerings. When I do have a watermelon red 10" power worm tied on(which is not often) I will use just enough weight to sink it as well, but I have never been a dock fisherman - I catch way too many of them to suit me. I like to drop waypoints on those secret brushpiles installed under cover of darkness I pick up when I am trolling so if the urge takes me I can visit them later. Mike
WeekendWarrior Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 When MLF was in Glaize I went up there between periods and saw Paulinuk had a drop shot on a rod.
Old plug Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Was it a big one about 1 oz with a big worm on it. Warrior
Old plug Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 I do that 10" worm and 1/8 oz thing myself. Have not done it hardly at all this year.

Mike In areas close to the dam, or in choked down main channel areas I can fathom it making a difference. I have my doubts about the fish in coves 15-30 miles from the dam even recognizing water movement from average generation.
