Seeing the cloudy weather this morning I had to go fish the river. after spending over an hour fishing cranks, grubs, and top water I switched to the ned rig and started getting some action. I lost the first 3 or 4 fish I hooked but finally brought in a decent little smallmouth. The action was good in only one little spot and I hooked 9 fish, only bringing 4 of them in. however as soon as the sun came out the fish shut down. The two pics are of my two biggest smallies today.

Nice, thanks.  I wonder how far downstream a decent smallmouth population exists?  Have never seen one below George Winter.

I have never caught one below valley park but I only fish from shore so I'm sure guys who have boats catch them farther down

Just past GW on the left side as you exit the lake hole is a ripple where I have caught them and down stream  from there about a half mile above Hwy 30 bridge on the right side is a steep rocky bank where boulders  have fallen in the water I caught an 18 incher there. The river runs into a wall a half mile above hwy 55 bridge.....where it hits that wall is a decent hole with some sort of debris under the water.....if you are driving  south on hwy 55 look to your right upstream  and you can see it....I have caught them there as well.
