Do I need a boat ramp permit to launch on Bull Shoals?  I googled it but didn't find anything.  I did find reference to a day use pass.  Is that what I need?

You can get a COE pass for the year or pay a fee at some of the ramps, but some ramps don't require it. I buy the annual pass and hang on my rear view mirror anytime I go to a boat launch.

The Mtn Home office has the passes. Check or Cash I think. $40 if I remember correctly.

I was wondering if the COE annual pass covers you at all lakes the Corps runs, or just the one you buy it for?  I used a COE Ramp for the first time at Clearwater Lake this weekend for a joyride with the grandson.  They broke it off in me with a $5 fee for an hour ride.  That was running the lake from end to end twice in a 50hp Tracker.

Most lakes I run, I launch from public ramps or TVA.  COE is a very expensive critter.

I fink it covers you for all the COE lakes, but a call to a COE office answers that question.

The COE pass is good for all COE managed areas.  Some areas on COE lakes are not managed by the COE and thus it may not work there.

Seems USACE has made some changes for day use (boat launching) this year. They raised the price to $5 for a one day use. Still can get the yearly pass $40. But now for age 62+ holders of a senior pass available from any US Park service office for $10 have free day use for life. Just hang the senior pass card from your vehicle rear view mirror. The USACE will mail you the hanger for free.

To wrap this up the proprietor of PJ Cracker's country store at the turn off 178 to Fairview ramp said no permit to launch is required so I went with it.  He sold licenses, etc so I figure he would have sold me one if it was needed.

He can't sell them, but hopefully he was honest about it.

He seemed pretty adamant that it wasn't necessary.  There was a warden at the ramp when we took out on Sunday.  No tickets for anyone that I saw.

That's cool, but as far as I know only COE sells COE launch passes.
