Beaver doesnt look half bad.

How does it compare to Taney as far as wading access? Is it purely stocked rainbows and browns or will we have the opportunity to catch a cutthroat? Is night fishing an option?

I appreciate the help,

You would like Beaver if you haven't been there yet. Plenty of oportunities to wade when no generation and the scenery is second to none. Of course the key to any tailwater is hitting it just right to wade fish. You could always drive to RR if they are generating power though.

Spring River in AR? That is where we normally have a guys weekend at and the fishing is always good. Throw in a float trip from one of the local outfitters for a memorable experience. Some campgrounds have cabins and the towns of Hardy and Mammoth Springs have motels. Should find something to fit a budget and get a good bang for the buck. Is warmwater fishing out of the question?

Do you have any firm Dates as yet???

Check out http://rivercliff.com 35ft from the river with Dock, Rent boat, Boat Ramp, Covered Deck, Fire Pit between the Cabin and The river, Fabulous view, Sleeps 4 tippitt size drinkers. One hell of a spot to night fish IF the water is down. (FF'ing). Might can do something with the price and/or a rental boat for you.

I do a Guys trip each winter to the norfork. Great fishing, and you can choose between the white and the norfork.. A boat is a must if the water is running.

I am not quite sure that taking 90% of my trips to Taney can exactly be called a rut, but the suggestions are great. My wife loves to tag along in the summertime. This guys trip is a great way for me to try places out and insure that i am not taking my wife into something i am not fully prepared for :)

We are looking at the middle of April for the guys trip. It will probably be the 14th or 21st. My biggest worry so far is that we will end up some place where the water is too high for wading. I know I dont have much control over the weather, but planning the trip in a location where we have a reasonable alternative option is always a good idea.

Keep in mind that where ever you go you can always find a good place to catch some smallmouth. They may not be the trout that you are looking for but it would be a perfect fix if the tailwater that you find is too much for wading.

The Eleven Point may be an option for you, though you did say boat rentals were a not an option. You can wade the shoals here, but a canoe is the best way to really fish the river. Access is limited (all national forest) and the holes are deep between shoals. The banks are heavily forested, preventing easy hiking between shoals. It is a beautiful river with good trout fishing though. In the interest of full disclosure, I do own an outfitter for the Eleven Point. You can rent 2-3 bedroom houses here for $45-60 per night depending on the number of people and they are nice and clean w/ full kitchens, sat tv and laundry facilities. There are pllenty of camping options as well. If you need a changeof pace while fishing here, there is a lot of water on the upper river where you can wade for miles chasing "smallies" and the Spring river is only 18 miles away for another trout fishing opportunity.

Vanven sorry for not replying sooner, been fishing and guiding too much lol

well one days fishing.

Beaver probably has currently at least 2 miles of easy wading, and more if you know where. Lot less people than Taney too. Our generaton is generally more prediuctable but I guess you now Swepco LOl anything is possible.

Night fishing _ definately. I don't get to do many trips at night, and not many people fish at night. Last night fishing sting of mine returned a 22" brown and a handful of rainbows in basically 90 minutes.

Unlike Taney we are a little more natural _ not so much background light. But while this is good in many respects, Id advise scouting pretty heavily, lot more places to go in over your head here you need to have a good idea where to go, or a guide ;)

Cheers

Steve.
