zarraspook Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 Ran up to Stockton this morning to check out the repair on my trolling motor.. Cedar Ridge is the closes to the house but, when I got there --- There is barricade with a note "RAMP CLOSED DUE TO LOW WATER" !!!! Note went on to say -- " Mutton creek or Masters ramps are the closest" So, I went to Old State Park..... "Look up OPTIMIST in the dictionary - there is a picture of a fishing boat being launched"
Jmontgo1246 Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 It looks like it is 3 ft low right now...why did they draw the lake down so much?
Members JRay Posted August 22, 2016 Members Posted August 22, 2016 Was the camper's point ramp within the same park not available?

Usually when they close the public ramp at Cedar Ridge they will not allow you to use the campground ramp if the campground attendant is still there. I understand not wanting to overcrowd the campground ramp but the guy running the campground isn't very friendly about it. It's best to just go to another ramp.

When the campground is open-- The ramp is for "Campers Only".. I use it in the winter when the campgrounds are closed.. IMHO it is an better ramp... Members Hickabilly Posted August 22, 2016 Members Posted August 22, 2016 Good to know... I went this morning with my 3 year old boy for a few hours. I always go to Cedar Ridge. For some reason today I went to State Park, glad I did now. I did notice the water at the Cedar Ridge ramp was real low on Friday night.
waterpossum Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 I watched a video recently about extending a launch ramp. It was pretty simple involving preforming a slab and using heavy equipment to literally slide it off of the existing ramp. When the lake is 3-4' low as it is now the public Cedar Ridge ramp will always be closed.
packersooner Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 This ought to help at least a little... http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=sgf&gage=mszm7 They took some serious rain in southwestern Polk County late Thursday evening. Jason dan hufferd 1
