J-Doc Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 I won't speak bad about other mechanics but I'll just say this..... Drive to Wrench's house. Service, quality, price, and a good dude. I've used mechanics in this area and I'll leave it at that. ;-) Daryk Campbell Sr 1 Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!

When I picked it up the bill was $750 and I could not even get the motor to pull the boat off the trailer. Maybe I should have just gone back but I get upset and don't return when things like that happen. Fishinwrench guided me through trouble shooting and resetting my choke and idle and I got the boat running ok but still not what I expected for laying out $750. Have a very similar story unfortunately, from the above mentioned place. Rogers Outdoors has been good to me and I know works on Yamaha. Might give them a call. Hope you can get back to running soon.

I think Rogers Outdoors is out of business, are they keeping a service department there?
M_Taylor Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 They aren't yet. However I see why people think it. I don't know about mechanical issues but they are doing some warranty work for me on my trailer tomorrow.
Quillback Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 Sounds like you'd better stay away from BV Marine. I was concerned when I saw they had gotten big.

See if there is any metal on the magnet or any signs of metal in the lube. How's the prop, prop hub, and prop shaft? Post a pic of the lower so we can see the suspected damage. I'll post pictures on Sunday when I'm with the motor. Thank you all for your help, I'm confident doing carb work but the lower unit is a whole nother story. I just want to get it up and running so I can get out there now that the lake is finally calming down!

On small motors like that there are Splines on the prop and most of the time when you hit something they strip out. That is an easy not very expensive fix on a small motor. On larger motors there is a rubber adapter inside the prop so you don't ruin a $300 prop, that I have managed to ruin about every two years. Lower units are easy to get off, if it is your problem, hang in there.

After all that, it was an expensive repair. But after spending $28,000 on another boat and spending $4,000.00 to repair the older boat, well she had me by the ..., well you know how she had me. Yea, I think my wife is beautiful, but when she comes out from having a facial I can't see any difference.
