Dutch Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 My s-i-l and I hit the water around 11:30 this morning. We launched at Hartley. There were more boats in the lot than I have seen the last several times I have been to Stockton. We worked our way to the dam and back. We caught fish on tubes, swing jigs, spinner baits and buzz baits. There were lots of shorts and only 4 keepers. We wound up catching 35 bass and 1 walleye. We quit at 6 pm and headed on home. It was a pretty good day to be on the water even if the temp was a bit too high. MOPanfisher, bassfisher, waterpossum and 1 other 4
nxs Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 We went Sunday first time I had been able to go since back in June I think it was. 3 crappie and a few short bass. But was sure good to get out again before another surgery. Have you been down to Beaver Creek this year??
Dutch Posted September 15, 2016 Author Posted September 15, 2016 Only one time after the water dropped. I was astounded at the millions of dead Zebra Muscles on the trees. I don't plan to put my boat back in there. I don't want to be the one responsible for spreading them to Stockton or Pommy. MOPanfisher 1

I wash the hull and motor and flush the live well after each use but can't say that is sufficient. ewlech and bassfisher 2
MOPanfisher Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Some bleach and drying time are good too. We have to spray every down with bleach and let the boat set out in the sun for usually a week if we take our work boat to a different body of water, just to be sure. ewlech 1

Yep that is what I have been told. Well I just bought a new glitter sled and it isn't likely to see any bleach and it will only be out in the sun when I am at the lake. So my best bet is to avoid lakes that have those critters in them. MOPanfisher 1
MOPanfisher Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 A little bleach water in the livewels and or bilge won't damage anything if you find yourself on an affected lake. But yeah I wouldn't hose down the interior even on my boat. Drying time still works in the barn just takes an extra day or two. Appreciate the intent and work to not be the transporter of zebra mussels. Daryk Campbell Sr 1
nxs Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 I have no idea how small those critters are when they first hatch out but I would all most bet money they're all ready in Stockton. So what did we get and what color?? A pic would be nice .
Dutch Posted September 16, 2016 Author Posted September 16, 2016 I never thought I'd own one but they have made significant changes in the last few years. I bought a Nitro Z20. It has a 250 Mercury Verado Pro four stroker on it. A 36 volt MG X5 trolling motor, power poles, hot foot and Lowrance hds units with structure scan front and back. It is quite different from my other boat but I am learning to really like it, especially that quiet Verado. zarraspook, bassfisher, Daryk Campbell Sr and 3 others 6
MOPanfisher Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Nxs, when young and first attached the zebras are tiny black specks, smaller than a grain of rice. Dutch, that's a good looking glittersled.
