I was talking to the merc mechanic about the oil injection on my 115 optimax and he said it is computer controlled and will alarm if something is wrong with the injection system.

I'm not gonna diagnose this over the forum because it could be one of several things.....but.... The most common cause is the float sensor built into the engine mounted oil reservoir.  The adhesive that holds a metal washer to the underside of the float lets go and the washer falls to the bottom, setting off the "low oil" code.  (Which is 4 short beeps every 5 minutes).

The fix is to replace the oil reservoir and re-purge the O/I system.

Here's the thing that most mechanics don't consider though....The adhesive is actually designed to let go if FUEL gets into the oil reservoir.....so the presence of fuel in the oil needs to be investigated at the same time.

I had the same thing happen to my old Optimax 2 different times over the years.  Both times it took a new upper oil tank to fix it.

Four beeps could be water intrusion in fuel or oil, or low reservoir oil.  Before taking it in, check the oil level on the reservoir.  If it is low, try running it on muffs in the driveway (if you have the nosecone low water pickups, be sure to block these off) and loosening the reservoir cap just enough to allow the reservoir to suck in additional oil from the main oil tank.

So did you have to drain the fuel, or just put a siphon and suck the water off the bottom of the tank, or what did it take to fix it.

Has to be hooked up to a computer to be taken out of gaurdian mode

Says who?  Just curious.

Water detection sensor signal does not put the ECU into guardian mode.
