196champ Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Looks like we have some cooler weather ahead and had planned on coming down the later part of next week. Any suggestions? I'm guessing the top water and jig bit should start heating up?
Quillback Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Yes it is good to see this shot of cold weather we are supposed to get. Looks like they are backing off on the amount of rain we might get, but ,maybe they will be wrong. I hope you are right and it gets the top water and jig bite going. Last time I was out, water was flat calm and it was sunny. There were bass out in the main channel chasing shad, but the bass were not schooled up and were moving around. Could hardly buy a bite working cover with a jig. The main channel fish would bite, but it is hard to stay on them. The shad are everywhere. This is what I am seeing on the upper White, maybe things are different in the lower lake or the other river arms.
vernon Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Man, is it about time or what? Looked at the almanac yesterday and the "normal" high for this time of year is 76! It's been that at 1100 at night for most of September. Normal low's are in the 52 - 54 range and we've been hanging around 65 recently. Didn't do enough research to verify but it sure seems like this has been an extraordinarily warm month - especially with the high dew points. We had that nice little break back in August and I thought September was going to be like magic or something with a nice long fall. Probably snow in two weeks the way this is going! Anyways, gonna be back down mid October and am hoping things have cooled and stabilized some. Came home a week ago today and that week was like fishing in July! High 80's and 90's, humid and hardly any wind. Sweat city. "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." George Carlin "The only money ever wasted is money never spent." Me.
