DNR director is a political appointment.  Sara was gone there on November 9.  MDC director is not a political job (well, at least technically).  She'll be fine at MDC if you ask me.  I've known her professionally for a long time.  The big challenge she faces at MDC is getting the 1/8 cent conservation sales tax continued.  I wish her every success at that and all the other things a director gets the pleasure of dealing with on a daily basis.

The best thing MDC got was a seasoned professional.  Win win again, IMHO.

It was a breath of fresh air to have a person who hunts and fishes leading those tree huggers over at DNR, (yes I know I have some bark marks myself) She seems level headed and involved in the outdoors.

Yeah there is fixing to be big trouble there.

Our Republican led legislators have chosen a new route to gain control over the MDC. They are apparently now limiting the amount of money that the MDC can use in their budget. The MDC has a very large amount of cash stuck in their bank account that the legislatures will not let them use.

You watch these legislators will come back and say that the MDC has too much money and we need to revoke the sales tax. And it is the fine citizens of the state that will not realize what they have done to cause this large amount of sales tax monies. It's going to get nasty!

Let them try, I think it would backfire on them in a big way.  But it will be up to folks like us to fan the flames should they try that route.
