Dan the fisherman Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 I'm continuing to catch whites and spots on spoons. A few top water bites also. I've fished up and down the lake all week in the mid section and caught fish everywhere and in all depths. From 30 feet to 7 feet. It's really been a day by day deal, as beaver usually is, but when I find them they're willing to bite. I've seen schooling fish a couple times this week too. Monday they schooled right at dusk, then Tuesday they schooled 9-1030 am on a bright sunny day on the other side of the lake. It's very random out there and hard to pattern more than a couple of hrs. Well at least that's been the case for me. Seems like I'm constantly on the move covering water. On the bright side, water was 77 this evening in PC. So I expect it to get better. Right? N e ways good luck out there guys. Lance34, Quillback and J-Doc 3
Stump bumper Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Water in the 70s sounds great, I will be stuck in Texas for a few weeks hope it is the lower 70s by the time I get back. Dan the fisherman 1
Members Fish Hound Posted September 30, 2016 Members Posted September 30, 2016 Dan, I'm fairly new to the area and been fishing Beaver for 3-4 years now. I found this site and have been reading posts and it has been a big help in trying to find the where and when part. I grew fishing the lakes in Kansas so this deeper clearer water has been a challenge. This past weekend I put in at the sidewalk hole ramp mainly because it is one close to where I live. I probably should have been more in the mid lake area though. I pulled some hot n tot's and shad raps on channel edges and flats and caught some undersize crappie, a nice channel cat, and small LM. I thought I found a bunch of white bass working the surface that maybe had corralled some shad in a small cove but when I got over there it was all gar, some were pretty large. There was another area where I saw shad near the surface and fish would roll up on them and they looked like blue cats from what I could see. I don't know if blue cats would come clear up to the top for a shad in the middle of the day from water that was 20' deep but that is what they looked like. Anyway I'll keep reading, posting , and hopefully sharing a better fish report as the lake cools. Maybe they will move back up to this end of the lake. Thanks Blll and Dan the fisherman 2

After seeing those shad I think I need to invest in a cast net, learn to throw it, and maybe do some drifting with them. Blue cats are pretty tasty (to me). I would prefer a walleye and/or crappie but a nice pan fried catfish sounds really good. Thanks bfishn, Daryk Campbell Sr and Dan the fisherman 3

Thanks Keep at fish hound. beaver does fish hard tough. It's the toughest lake I've ever fished...... I'm on my 6th year fishing beaver and still learning something all the time. That's really interesting what u said about the catfish. I'm yet to see that on beaver........ I rarely fish up to where u were though, I do venture that far when the whites r running. I generally still between MN and RB.

Next week I'm going to try striper, we'll see how that goes lol. the first couple of weeks of chasing striper r usually very frustrating.
Dan the fisherman Posted October 1, 2016 Author Posted October 1, 2016 Beaver lake fishin' is a lot like a box of chocolates......... U never know what u going to get.. Bg193ch and Stump bumper 2

Thanks If you look back in the post, I put up some good videos on how to throw a cast net. Put out some shad and you never know what you will get but you will get something.
