Anyone tried these? Thinking about getting some cheep blanks and trying to cover them with jig skinz instead of paint. I am thinking of sealing the blanks with a clear coat then sealing the skinz with a clear coat. Barlow's is selling them now. Not sure how much I would save after buying all the materials but the lure blanks such as Sammys are so so cheap compared to the finished lure, looks like I could't go wrong.

I seem to change split rings and hooks on any lure I buy now to get them to do what I want, why not start from scratch? Learning to paint would be better but who has that kind of time?

***DISCLAIMER*** I am simply a weekend angler who likes to tinker with baits. The issues I have outlined below are from operator error (ME).

Stump:

I got a few in, and tried them (couple of pics to follow).

I figured out a few things as I went (I added comments to each picture).

Overall, it's a neat concept.

In a pinch or time crunch, I see lots of benefits.

But, for most times, I am going to stick to painting blanks.

Wow, those look great.  I don't think the fish will care if the front of the bait doesn't have the skin on it.  If i was a fish I'd eat them.

I'm thinking the same thing as Moguy, probably not noticeable to fish that little bit being left off.  They look good!

A fine job, indeed. Thanks for the pics! Oh, and some fine-looking furry fellows you have there.
