Curious if any of you striper fishers have tried the 130 size plopper for stripers.  Seems like it would be a good one to throw, you can cast it a mile, makes a lot of commotion, but maybe not the right action for the striped critters?  I might toss it around next week some, but I hate to waste valuable early morning fishing time experimenting with lures.

Might be ok for smaller fish, but if you hit a 30lb plus fish I would think you just lost a $12 lure. Moving parts are just not as strong as a spook or Pencil popper. Then again if you use 10lb test and take your time it might be the ticket, I prefer 40lb braid and putting my back into the fight and getting them to boat without tiring them totally out.

JMO I have not tried one, I go to the jerk baits when everyone else is getting a top water bite just my thing.

Hooks are good. Split rings not so much.

I'm yet to get one on it.  Really it seems to be more of a color thing with them tuxedoed bass.  I've gone form bone to chrome and vice versea and that's made all the difference.  Very picky animals.

Last year. I believe the 2nd. week of November, Greg Wood and Bill Beck just hammered them on the Plooper.  Don't know what color they used.  I know they had at least 2 over 30 and several over 20 lbs.  They went two days, a guide friend of Greg's told him where they were chasing and it was totally unreal.

I went with them about a week later and none came up.  I did catch a dandy walleye on a jigging spoon.

I tried the plopper today.  Didn't get a bite.   Threw my spook and got 5 blow ups. Only landed 3  of them.   Still a good morning.  Fish were in the 12-15 range.

What hat were you wearing?
