There are a couple of below freezing mornings coming, that should get the shad back into the creeks at night anyway. Once those shad start grouping together the stripers will also. Those fish can move over 30 miles a day so the same fish you see at the sidewalk hole could be at the dam the next day. Right now with the water temp the same all over the lake I think that is what is going on. 

I can find a shad ball here and there but I have not found any channels with football field size of shad gatherings yet. That is when you know where the stripers will be when you know where the food is going to stay.

I hear ya, J-Doc. That batter is an awful thing to do to any fish.

Someday I'm gonna go find a striper or a few big whites and try your blackened recipe. Sounds mighty good.
