mreed81 Posted December 25, 2016 Posted December 25, 2016 Decided to continue the tradition I started last year and fished BSC Christmas Eve morning. Started at sunrise and quit around 10:00 AM. The water level and flow were both a little bit higher from the rain on Friday but the creek is still very, very clear. Nymphing the riffles with Flashbacks and grey scuds worked pretty well. Didn't catch anything of any huge size but caught several small creek specials. Great way to spend a morning. Also, I did notice that some of the mature Fall/Winter spawners in the creek are starting to make beds in some of the slow runs. Please be cognizant of that if you do fish there. Watch them do their dance, etc and move on to the next riffle or pool to fish. Merry Christmas everyone! BilletHead, JestersHK, Eric82 and 2 others 5
bkbying89 Posted December 25, 2016 Posted December 25, 2016 Nice to see your post, Matt. I was considering a trip down to BSC this week. Last time I was down there she treated me pretty badly. I have been waiting for a little rain to wake the girl up. Nice post and a nice day on the water. Merry Christmas to you and your family. mreed81 1

Merry Christmas to you and yours too, Bill. I think it will take about 3/4" to 1" of rain to murk things up on the creek, or at least a few days in a row of light precipitation. Last winter was never short on precipitation and I think this winter might be the opposite.
Johnsfolly Posted December 25, 2016 Posted December 25, 2016 Mreed Congrats on the Xmas eve BSC wild trout. Really nice looking fish! Sounds like a great tradition. mreed81 1
Geoff Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 Good to see, im going to head down there mid week and give it a once over "When you do things right, people wont be sure you've done anything at all."
bkbying89 Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 I made it down to BSC today and it was LOW & CLEAR. I did manage to pull a few fish out including one nice one but I really had to work for them. I was using 6X fluorocarbon. I would bet that the otters did a number on the trout population in the creek. Like Matt said we need some rain to get the water levels up and murky. I really like that little creek Johnsfolly and mreed81 2

Either way we all enjoy that creek the same, and the trees get decorated with lots of flies and tippet. Johnsfolly and bkbying89 2
bkbying89 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 I am considering going down there with my tree pruner and harvesting some hardware. Finders keepers, losers weepers. mreed81 and Johnsfolly 2
