Members BassBlind Posted January 19, 2017 Members Posted January 19, 2017 Forecast looks great this weekend! 63 Friday and 65 Sunday. It has been about 2 months since I was last out on the water. Any tips or pointers for a warm January weekend? I plan on tying on the Ned, crankbait, potentially an A-Rig... any pointers on where (bluffs, shallow, deep, wood, etc) to fish or what to tie on would be greatly appreciated. Hope everyone has a great weekend! magicwormman 1
Sore Thumbs Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 If the wind is blowing I'd key in on that first. Any kind of moving bait would work. A-rig would be an excellent choice. Throw it up shallow and reel it quick til it gets a about 10 ft away from bank then start slowing your retrieve and lower your rod. This will allow you to cover all depths back toward the boat. Great search bait. If they are hammering it you have the right bait. If not throw a slower presentation like a jerkbait. Good luck Royal Blue, Smalls21, Bassmod and 2 others 5
Champ188 Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Don't let the warm air temperatures tempt you into fishing too fast. It's still January and water temps are still in the 40s. Based on where I found fish last week in the mid-lake area, I'd concentrate on transition areas where bluffs taper out into 45-degree chunk rock and then where that chunk rocks tapers even more into gravel. Jerk bait, Rock Crawler and (if you must) A-rig. Good luck and let us know how you do. BassBlind, dtrs5kprs, Royal Blue and 4 others 7
