Planning a trip to the Current River in the middle of March. Sons going to school not far away in northern Arkansas so it's about time I start using that excuse to get some fly fishing in. I've never fished the Current but sounds like I want the upper part of the river from everything I'm reading. Most of the float trips I'm finding online are either from Baptist Camp to Cedar Grove or Baptist Camp to Akers. We're only going to have one day to float so I want to get in as much of the river as I can but still fish it hard. Baptist Camp down to Akers sounds like it may be pushing it in one day to fish hard? Are we better off with the Baptist Camp to Cedar Grove float if we want to take our time and fish it hard? Any advise for a newbie would be much appreciated.

Been some years since I fished that but those sections hold some quality browns & rainbows. Need to get back out there.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like Baptist to Cedar Grove for the first trip

I'll second the length of the float, and second Jadwin Canoe rentals.  Always seem to catch a good brown on every time we went.  My brother caught a 4# brown one time we floated that had a clown smithwick hanging out of its mouth, I think he caught it on a black wooly bugger so don't be afraid to throw the big stuff.
