Members Midwest Anglers Posted February 17, 2017 Members Posted February 17, 2017 Hello everyone, I'm originally from Kansas, moved to Minnesota about 8 years ago and find myself making trips back to Kansas/Missouri at least a couple of times a year to fish. Walleye are fun to chase up here especially in the big lakes that sustain a strong population like Mille Lacs and Lake of the Woods. I enjoy being within 4 hours of the Red River of the North where 15 pound channel cats are very common, 20 pounders are common a few 30 pounders are caught every year. Lake Sturgeon are a riot to catch, 50-60" or longer and frequently come clear out of the water once hooked (like a largemouth bass) and then dive right back to the bottom. One extremely frustrating aspect of Minnesota fishing for me is that on all inland water (completely contained within the state borders) we are only allowed to use one line during open water season. For that reason I don't fish the states best flathead water and I only live about 20 minutes from it, I'll drive a little farther to fish the Mississippi or St. Croix Rivers because they are border waters and we can use 2 rods on the Minnesota side of the river channel and 3 rods on the Wisconsin side of the river channel. I'm headed back to Kansas in a little under a month to chase some big blue cats at Milford, would like to get back to the Ozarks area soon and do some fishing. I have a buddy that is headed down in the next couple months to fish a bass tournament, I know he is pretty excited. Joined the forum to help anyway I can and learn a little more about the fishing opportunities in your part of the country. Ryan Daryk Campbell Sr, tho1mas, Quillback and 1 other 4
