Members Tehmilz4 Posted February 23, 2017 Members Posted February 23, 2017 Anyone know how the water level is and if any whites are getting close to running?
trythisonemv Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 Gotta be super low and slow. If the weather jumps back up after the rain Tuesday that could set them off. As long as the h2o stays in the fifties to sixties. I think it'll be an early run this for sure. March madness Flysmallie and BilletHead 2
bwcballer10 Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 Water is real low but the 8 days of 65 plus has it ridiculously warm for this time of year. This cold snap isn't supposed to last but a couple of days so you should be able to find a few in the river pretty soon. trythisonemv 1

Members MCrump Posted March 1, 2017 Members Posted March 1, 2017 From aldrich bridge to the old bridge pillars was a MAX of 4 feet deep. Most of it was shallower than that. Buddy and i were tempted to go further in the river but just past the pillars it narrows up and shallows even more. We started churning mud in the deepest part of the channel with a shortshaft 3 horse Johnson and decided to give it up. It is likely similar depths until you get around the corner and start straighter down the long eddy that approaches orleans. Continued warmth accompanied by a decent rain should make them brave enough to run it. Run it in numbers that is. I would think herons and other birds could feast like crazy if they tried to go now as shallow as it is. At least when i was there last week. Haven't been back. Haven't heard on the news how much rain that area got last night. I hope this year is similar to the 2013 run. This is the first time they've let the lake start off this low since then, and that was a great year. trythisonemv 1

Members 6lbstest Posted March 4, 2017 Members Posted March 4, 2017 I have been down to Orleans twice this last week, Monday night I caught a couple small white males, went again Tuesday morning and got nothing but a couple short crappie and some short largemouth. They are getting close for sure. Just need some relevant rain fall. And all those caught were on a real slow and deep retrieve. trythisonemv 1
Members 6lbstest Posted March 4, 2017 Members Posted March 4, 2017 I plan on going back tomorrow, I will give a report if I have any luck one way or the other. trythisonemv 1
