Brian Jones Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 Had same problems with invsisix as well as red label. On two different occasions I had good fish on and was fighting them to the boat and my line broke just as you described. Flouro ain't worth the aggravation to me.................
shrapnel Posted March 22, 2017 Author Posted March 22, 2017 I'm wondering if it's neither the rod or the reel...if fluoro is that sensitive then maybe it's only good for a few thousand twitches throwing jerk baits before it gets its feelings hurt and gives up. The break is always just out from the reel, maybe 1-2 guides from the reel.

Go to toss a crank, and the thing would just keep flying, while the other end was caught between the spool and frame. I was a sliw learner and used that reel for 2 years before tossing it in the trash. It happened every other trip out. I think I tossed 6 of them. I was slow too but finally made the change.

Lost a four plus pound largemouth in one tournament and a 2 1/2 to 3 pound fish in another tournament. Removed fluro and re-spooled reel with a mono I had used before and after and never had another problem.
dtrs5kprs Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 I'm thinking it's a guide issue. One easy way to find out...put the reel on another rod, see if it still happens. mixermarkb 1
WeekendWarrior Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 Like Ham said, Invisx doesn't like the snapping of the line to free a snag. I do not like any Invisx under 15 lb test. Of course I only use for bottom baits mostly though. Another issue in using lighter pound test 12 lb and below is the shock of a hook set if you have slack in your line. Need to loosen the drag for a little slip
dtrs5kprs Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 I'm shocked by all the trouble people have with Invizx, or FC generally. Can't count how many fish I've pulled out of cedars, or over dock cables with 6#. Out of dark, nasty places with the heavier line on a big rod. I frog with it in the summer, when I only take a couple of rods. And, yep, I bow and arrow it, even the 6#. Smalls21 1

I tried using 12 lb when coming down to TR and broke to many fish off using the tube with it and found out I really don't need to downsize my line at TR, just stay with 15 or 17 lb and do just fine.
WeekendWarrior Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 And it seems like the smaller lb test lines dont like the cold either
