blacknoseddace Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 I snagged almost a 3 foot Buffalo while snaggin' for an hour or so two weeks ago. Do you ever try to run bottom bouncers with death rigs or worm harnesses? Either way I've decided I'll motor up that way and give a report. Never have tried that. Too lazy to mess with bait. Lol! Those Buffalo jump sometimes when they get snagged.

Them Buffalo are good eating almost good as Suckers. Going to have to go back up there. Was going to go Thursday but probably just fish by the Cabin maybe Mushroom hunt. I'd like to stay up there a couple weeks. oneshot

Fished jigs and jerkbait hoping to get into hybrids and walleyes. I know walleyes are about done but you can catch them all through April, just not in numbers. Not much water moving. Water temps ranging 55-57 degrees. A few Crappie were being caught on minnows, very small, and not many. I caught one 12" Crappie and a 16" hybrid on a chartreuse 1/4 oz craft hair jig and released them. Fished from 8am-12pm. It was cloudy most of the time with a good wind from the West. I noticed the road crossing the dam was closed. I was in my boat, but noticed the banks on both sides right below the dam were void of people. That is a definite sign fishing isn't too good.
Members Pelican07 Posted April 10, 2017 Members Posted April 10, 2017 Gonna go down there around 5pm and fish by the dam. See if there's any action. Was there Saturday and caught two hybrids. Slow end of the week that's for sure

MOPanfisher Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Have heard some reports from south of the 83 bridge above Fairfield of whites and some crappie off the banks. Warm weather the next few days should light them up. blacknoseddace 1
LoweSTX175 Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Sorry for the late report. Launched at MM81 and went all the way up to the dam on Saturday. Water was 55 degrees. Trolled flickershad for about 1 1/2 hours up around the dam with no bite. Didn't appear anyone around the dam was catching anything. Fired the boat back up and stopped short of the 65 bridge and trolled a bluff. Once again no luck. Called it a day and loaded up. Did see lots of spoonbill tied off on the side of boats. Ran into the owner of Shady J's bait shop later on Saturday night. He said crappie were hitting up Cole Camp Creek on Saturday. I must have traveled the wrong way on the water once again.
