I'll have to say. I thought I lost my Garmin Echomap 73sv today. We were crashing some serious waves and the finder came loose out of its cradle and over the side it went.  I thought it was gone.  Circled around and after searching the waves for a minute we saw something and low and behold the thing floats.  Pretty well too. Scooped it up in the net, popped it back on the cradle and it fired right up. I for sure thought the fishing trip turned real sour. It's nice to know that if I ever have fumble fingers trying to put it on or take it off at the dock or ramp and I drop it in the water I don't have to worry as much.

Lowrance has cables that lock on. I am guessing that Garmin does not? Good save.

Nope, Garmin have quick release cradles that the cables remain attached to.  Makes it easy to remove and stow but I guess you have to make sure it's fully engaged to the cradle or else it can pop off.

I've never heard of any electronics that float much less would just plug back in and function without problems.  Usually need to dry out.

WAY impressive!!  Awesome that you turned around to see if it was floating.  I would have assumed it was gone to the bottom.

Might need to look into a simple fix for locking the unit down.
