MoCarp Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 We all have had similar situations, unsure the best way to handle it nicely https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I72jJ4wor_w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPtVWMv5EV0 MONKEYS? what monkeys?
shrapnel Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 The complaining gets old. Everyone has a right to use public waters legally. I fish LOZ a LOT, sure I groan when a wake boat goes by throwing 3 footers and have to turn into them while fishing but rarely does water come over the bow. It's a trade off I'm wiling to make to fish one of the best lakes in the country. Jet ski's can't make a big enough of a wake to hurt anything. The 30'-40' plows errrr cruisers generally stick to the main channel, lots of water to fish away from them but makes getting to your spots interesting. I'm pretty sure fishermen are in a minority on many lakes, on LOZ if you look at the boats in docks or on the water at any given time fishing boats are out numbered 20-1.
fishinwrench Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 The stirring of the water actually seems to make fishing better. I've had days on Truman when the water was relatively dead still....and the fishing sucked. I'd be willing to bet that an hour of stirring the water in that area would have improved the bite noticably. Sometimes it is an inconvenience that you can't fish a certain bank at the time you've chosen to, but in all reality I am beginning to believe that the barrage of wake activity on LOZ is what makes it the best darn fishing lake in Missouri.
shrapnel Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 It would be interesting to see similar condition oxygen levels between lakes.
MoCarp Posted June 13, 2017 Author Posted June 13, 2017 I found this interesting "According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's 2011 National Survey of Fishing, Hunting and Wildlife-Associated Recreation, more than 46 million licensed anglers generate over $48 billion in retail sales with a $115 billion impact on the nation’s economy creating employment for more than 828,000 people. The political clout is even greater when you consider at least 46 million anglers fished at some point over the past five-year period." http://asafishing.org/facts-figures/ MONKEYS? what monkeys?
MoCarp Posted June 13, 2017 Author Posted June 13, 2017 wow this is interesting too....
