MrGiggles Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 I just bought a 14' Alumacraft V bottom last night. It's 50" wide in the back, with a 9.8 Merc. I was wondering how well it will handle fishing Pomme, Stockton, and possibly Truman. I'm a little worried that it's won't handle the wakes in deeper water. Anyone fish out of a boat this size on these lakes? -Austin
MoCarp Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 If you keep an to the weather and stay away from the main lake you should be good, that boat is a great trolling boat, stockton has tons of access, the Aldrich side is less windy and is a waterfowl reserve area that gets fished a bit less than most of the lake, get a portable weather radio (don't count on a cell phone ap) also Table rock before the weather gets warm and all the non fishing boats come out to play don't forget the tons of smaller lakes, they have better fishing http://www.stocktonlake.com/app/webroot/files/stocktonlakemap.pdf just depends WHAT you want to fish for MONKEYS? what monkeys?
MrGiggles Posted July 9, 2017 Author Posted July 9, 2017 Thanks. I live in Collins, so Truman, Stockton, and Pommel are all within 30 minutes or so. Don't know of any smaller lakes in the area though. I'd like to fish Stockton for walleyes more than anything else. -Austin
MoCarp Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 perfect trolling rig! might get some back trolling splash guards, pommel has walleye run shallower than stockton MONKEYS? what monkeys?
MOPanfisher Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 I grew up in a 14 ft Richline v hull fishing stockton. You had to keep an eye one the weather and know your limitations. Still.see lots like it on Pomme and upper reaches of Truman.
