lmt out
The fish we have been catching have been in a pretty defined area. So I decided to try jig and crawler. Had a pretty good day. 15 keepers and 4 shorts. Kept a limit today for the fryer. Largest was 21 1/2. In 17Ft of water. Big Keene
what size jighead/hook do you prefer, and do you notice a difference between painted and unpainted jigs? how much crawler? i tried to catch some on jigs and crawlers a couple weeks ago, but all i got was a big bluegill. i tried a whole and a half crawler, tried casting and dragging back to the boat, tried strolling, nothing worked for me. lmt out
I hook the jig thru the head of the crawler straight thru then stretch him out and where the stinger hook meets his body hook him straight thru there and punch the crawler off behind the hook. I vertically jig. Straight to the bottom. Lift about 3 or 4 inches and hold still. When a walleye hits it they typically lightly peck it a couple times I resist the urge to set the hook. I slowly start to lift my rod if I feel the rod start to load up. Set the steel! Blue fill peck it to but much faster so u can usually tell when it's a walleye. 20 hours ago, Big Keene said: what size jighead/hook do you prefer, and do you notice a difference between painted and unpainted jigs? how much crawler? i tried to catch some on jigs and crawlers a couple weeks ago, but all i got was a big bluegill. i tried a whole and a half crawler, tried casting and dragging back to the boat, tried strolling, nothing worked for me. nomolites, blacknoseddace, Big Keene and 2 others

Dkman
Thanks for the tips lmt out. I have also been trying to learn the walleye fishing better at Stockton. I have been casting and bouncing the jig and crawler back to me off the bottom. I have mainly been catching catfish. Always good to gain more info and you are truly on them. I have not been vertically jigging. Thanks Again
