Members nymphermaniac Posted September 24, 2017 Members Posted September 24, 2017 I am thinking of fishing it later this week. Would appreciate any reports on the forum or pm.
bkbying89 Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 What part of the Currant? It has been fishing well but has slowed considerably in the last four weeks. Bill
awhuber Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 The river has fished well for me this year. I was fishing at Ashley creek last week and thought I has caught a rock. I reeled in a pair of those fancy fishin pliers that folks carry. NYMPH~o---, Ozarks Chillbilly and bkbying89 2 1
Gavin Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 Well for dink rainbows by all reports, big Browns are still there, but lots of dinks running interference. Some logs to negotiate between Baptist & Parker if floating. NYMPH~o--- 1
bkbying89 Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 The last two times I have fished the Current I and my friends have done well. I have been consistent as far I am taking numbers and size wise better than earlier this season. The smaller fish may have spread out and fattened up a bit. They also seem to be coloring up for the fall spawn. I have been using the beetle to great effect. Bill NYMPH~o--- 1
Members NYMPH~o--- Posted October 6, 2017 Members Posted October 6, 2017 Dinks did well last weekend on an orange stimulater with rubber legs for me. Looked like normal/sporadic caddis with big trico hatches/spinners. Tried a baby dry trico spinner, size 20, behind the stimulater but they liked the bigger fly despite feeding frequently on the spinners. Went deep a few times in the bigger pools to look for the hogs. Had a big guy chase the dink on my line but that was they only thing of size I saw. Watched a pair of 14in browns hunt minnows in front of our camp site all day. Caught one of em later but had more fun watchin' em hunt to be honest. Probably will go back next week. snagged in outlet 3, Daryk Campbell Sr, Johnsfolly and 2 others 5
bkbying89 Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 I have only caught one Brown so far this year. Caught it on a hopper at Baptist Camp. I have a couple nicer rainbows but no hogs. it has been a lot of fun fishing with a four weight. I haven't fished hardly anything but terrestrials this summer, a few caddis and Trico spinners but I caught more chubs than trout on the Tricos. I'm going to start throwing some streamers soon. Ozarks Chillbilly Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 Dry flies still working here? Sounds like I need to bring the 3wt. Never been on the Current but definitely need to check it out. Fish size doesn't scare me away, just want to catch something! Live count (10/19/17) : Streamers lost to Taneycomo's Giant Squid = 12
