Members BillT Posted October 18, 2017 Members Posted October 18, 2017 Son-in-law and his cousin was told they were dropping the lake last week end. They had to take out their boats. How far did they drop the lake?
Blazerman Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 Alot. I was down there the last two weekends and was surprised by the big draw down. Looked like a couple feet. Totally shut down the topwater bite for a bunch of the local pros who were doing well in the Costa FLW. https://www.flwfishing.com/news/2017-10-16-top-10-patterns-from-lake-of-the-ozarks
Members BillT Posted October 18, 2017 Author Members Posted October 18, 2017 Thanks, sure makes me glad I have a tinboat. But it sure disrupts the fishing, I know. Once had a guy tell me a draw down didn't hurt the fishing. I knew that was wrong and the week proved it was wrong. Caught one nice fish and blanked the rest of the week.
Members Yakalong Posted October 20, 2017 Members Posted October 20, 2017 Went out tonight (Thursday) and it was down at least a couple of feet up around the 3 mm
WeekendWarrior Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 The lake has only dropped a foot since beginning of October.
fishinwrench Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 657-ish is pretty low for mid-October, especially since Truman is at regular pool. I don't understand the games they play with the lake level here anymore. If you're a mid-lake guy it doesn't matter so much, but for us upper-enders it's frustrating as hell.
Old plug Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 I cannot help but wondervof ot os not connected to these reinforcong repaors going on
fishinwrench Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 All of the reinforcing is (was) going on BELOW the dam. No work being done on the lake side I don't think.
Old plug Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 I am going to look it up there was something in the paper thos past spring about cables. they had drawings of what they were planning I think there were lake side cables represented
Bushbeater Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 You have to really watch it on the Niangua above 54 bridge. The stick ups and mud flats are getting some boaters. I watched a 30+ foot yacht work at getting unstuck for almost an hour last weekend. As a side note some of the smaller resort and community ramps are becoming unusable and the fishing has sucked.
