can you describe the issue - i.e. interference from the console unit or when the trolling motor is running - what troller do you have?

The interference occurs when I run the trolling motor. It is a Minn Kota Maxum (2006) 101 #.  It also was getting interference from the rear unit - that is solved by turning the rear unit off when using the bow unit.

Do You have your sonars hooked to your cranking battery or trolling motor battery?

I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything!

You can call MinnKota and they will send you a choke (donut) free to put on your trolling motor which will help.  You are correct regarding the need to turn off the console unit.  The new Humminbirds have a standby switch on the Power drop down button which eliminates the need to totally turn it off.  Hitting the Power button again brings the unit on immediately.

Did you try switching frequencies on the two units. On my 998’s I can run them on separate frequencies and never had interference issues.

As someone else eluded to, it sounds like you have your bow unit wired with the trolling motor somehow. If so, you need to run a dedicated wire back to the starting battery.

Even with power from the starting battery you can get the interference - I did.  Thus the choke. as indicated above.
