Stump bumper Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 This Dad was taking his 14 year old Daughter deer hunting and I can hear him now "If it has antlers and is brown put it down." Not always the best advice. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2017/11/13/missouri-girl-14-thought-she-shooting-deer/860605001/
jdmidwest Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 She made history by being the first MO Elk hunter of this century. Dad did not "take her hunting", he dropped her off with a cell phone and a rifle and left her to hunt on his own. Good thing farmer brown did not walk thru scratching his head. One of the cardinal rules. KNOW YOUR TARGET!!!!! MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE WHAT YOU ARE SHOOTING AT BEFORE YOU PULL THE TRIGGER!!!!! Gavin Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Wife would skin me alive if I did something like that. They penalty at home might be greater than those provided by law.
jdmidwest Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 But just think how many elk hair caddis you could tye out of the carcass. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson

awhuber Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 This is not a "Peck Ranch" elk. It is likely an escappe from a near by elk ranch or a wanderer from the north west. Johnsfolly 1
Gavin Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 It’s a dead elk, don’t really care. Will be good eats for someone maybe.

Stump bumper Posted November 15, 2017 Author Posted November 15, 2017 It could have come up from the Buffalo River, I have heard that herd is spreading out. I swear I heard one last year while fishing near Hobbs State park but dismissed it as impossible no Elk this far North in Arkansas and now a girl shots one just North of us? How old was that Elk anyway? I have to give that girl credit, knocking down an Elk with a 243 is differently a well placed bullet.
