Depends on the fish, imo, but I do believe the bite improves with fluorocarbon when fishing under the surface. Towards the end of October 2017, the Trout in Lake Taneycomo was extremely line shy. I swear they were cocking there heads looking for a line attached.

We.l if you beloev it then use it. Be cuase if you doubt it at all It will go straight into your mind where it will mes with your head  and hurt your fishing success.

I have used about everything and have never noted a difference. I use 20lb  braid on wacky worms.  Years ago before all the electronic we used to take a heavy 3/4 bell sinker and attach a size 0/2a-0/4 wire hook about a foot in back of it all on 20 lb test we would  throw it around in circles search for hidden brush piles. I have had both bass and crappie take that bare hook. Not often but it happened a few times.

Hmm...about the roadkill thing.  The theory is that if you see a lot of roadkilled critters on your way, it means they have been active and the fish were active, too.  BUT, the key words there are "have been" and "were".  If the critters were active the last couple days and show up as a lot of roadkill, that doesn't mean they are STILL active.  Maybe they got all their roaming around and eating out of their system the last couple days and now they are lying around doing nothing, as are the fish.  Kind of a should have been here yesterday thing, instead of a today's the day thing.

As for catching a fish on the first cast, I've definitely had days when I caught one on the first cast and then the rest of the day was poor fishing.  But I've also had days when I caught one on the first cast and had terrific fishing all day.  I tend to think that when you catch one very quickly, you THINK it's going to be a great day, and if it turns out to be a slow day, you remember that first fish and your disappointment, and thus think it's bad luck to catch one on the first cast.

I've eaten bananas during the day.  Can't remember whether it was a slow day or not.

So obviously, I'm not superstitious.

Most noticable increases in animal activity are the result of breeding, not eating.  Animals already live close to their food supply so there's no need to go walkabout to find it.

February is "dead skunk in the middle of the road" month because that's when the peak of their breeding occurs.

For those who have to drive a bit to go fishing the roadkill rule tends to be pretty reliable.

Never step on a boat with your left foot first.

When leaving a ramp never look behind you until the ramp is out of sight. Looking back at the ramp is a sign that you might not return.

Never bring a strung rod in the house.

Never have a line in the water when a loon cries.

Never lay your fishing hat on your bed.

Never rename a boat.

darn, no wonder I never catch fish! Guilty for all! 😊
