Members Goose919 Posted November 30, 2017 Members Posted November 30, 2017 I'm heading to Rock Lane Resort (Indian Point) this coming weekend with the family and would like to do some bank fishing (still working on purchasing a boat - need to get the wife convinced) around the Indian Point area. Couple of questions: How is the bank fishing this time of the year? Where would be the best areas to get a line wet for a couple of hours in the Indian Point area. Thanks for the help in advance. Quillback Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 I'm not familiar with that end of the lake, but I have found that many of the COE parks on the lake have quite a bit of shore access. You may have to scramble around a bit on the rocks, and duck through some bushes, but I bet you can find enough bank to stay busy. Personally, I'd throw a Ned, not going to cost you much when you get hung up and have to break off, and you should be able to get a bass or two (assuming that is what you are targeting). I'd look for deep water close to shore to fish. Water is down some now which helps. magicwormman 1
big c Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 I would suggest the area around the boat ramp at rock lane. Throw a ned as far as you can just to the north of the ramp, from the ramp north about twenty yards and there is some brush and small rock piles out there. Also look to the north and see a hige houseboat in a slip. Throw from the houseboat back to the west along that bank. There is a good depth change along that bank, not to far from shore. Not real sure this time of year but it's been a productive area for me. Also the bank in the SW portion. Just south of the marine dealer office. Hope that helps a little. Good luck. vernon, Quillback and magicwormman 3
magicwormman Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 Great advice! I would also throw the ned and a dropshot. It won't cost you much if you have to break off. Most of the fish are deep right now, in 25 to 40 ft. of water. They are following the shad in the deeper water. The late afternoon bite has been the best for me. You might even catch one on topwater if they're busting shad.

Exactly what I was going to suggest before you beat me to it! We stay there a couple of times a year and, although we do have a boat, we fish those areas a bunch and with pretty good success. Lots of smallies and spots in those areas - more smallies around the boat ramp point and more spots in the little cut west of the big dock. There's also a screened in fishing dock on the point in between those two places that's surrounded by brush piles and also tends to hold lots of spots. Though seasonal, they're pretty good topwater locations too but I agree that the Ned is the way I would go. big c 1 "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups."
