shrapnel Posted April 26, 2018 Posted April 26, 2018 I have 10 Tatula's, and nothing else. They do anything I need them to very well, including skipping jigs. Guys I fish with are sometimes surprised how far a jig will skip under cables and docks.
timinmo Posted April 26, 2018 Posted April 26, 2018 The SV spool was developed by Daiwa and has really been a "brake" through. Until recently it was only available in the high end reels, think Steez and Zillion. Now you can get it in the Tatula with an MSRP of $200. It is way cool. I'm not sure I understand the engineering but it works. I am not that good with a baitcaster but I can skip with those reels.
176champion Posted April 26, 2018 Author Posted April 26, 2018 I paid 98 bucks for the tatula 100H.. I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Bruce Philips
timinmo Posted April 26, 2018 Posted April 26, 2018 The 100 series does not have the SV spool. Good reels, I have one that I have been very happy with. The ones with the SV are the CT and not all of those. The ones with the SV are labeled as SV and right now are kind of hard to get. They are sold out at most places. As a comparison the regular Tatula CT lists for $129.99 and the SV is $199.99 so seventy bucks for the SV spool if you can find one. The 100 series has been replaced by the 150 series, I think.
176champion Posted April 26, 2018 Author Posted April 26, 2018 I have noticed the SV spool holds less line than the regular spool. I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Bruce Philips
slothman Posted April 26, 2018 Posted April 26, 2018 So what is the difference between the 100s the CTs and the SVs? Besides the price of course. What am I missing out on by buying reels at a lower price point ($80-100)?

I use one of the Lews speed spools (don’t recall which one) on my jig setup, and get far more backlash there with 80lb braid than the tatula. Plus, the levelwind assembly on my Lews often gets stuck, which stacks my line on one end of the spool. I’m strongly considering swapping out the Lews for another tatula on my jig rig. What he said hahahaha.... my Tatula and Zillion SV's cast like nothing else I have thrown to date. They are very good reels. Are they completely backlash proof??? no but as close I have seen or used personally.

176champion Posted April 26, 2018 Author Posted April 26, 2018 I saw where you could buy the sv spool for 107 bucks...lol I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Bruce Philips
