Members whiteh2oman Posted May 3, 2018 Members Posted May 3, 2018 Put in at the Cape Fair bridge at 4:45 pm fished till dark 30. Ran down stream. WT 63 near the bridge, 66 downstream. Fishing for crappie in cuts w/wood going from chunk rock banks to pgravel. Found a few males in 2 to 4 fow. Fished swimming minnow, tube jigs and the winner of the evening for both crappie and bass was the Keitech Sexy Shad with the tail died chartreuse/garlic. Couldn't get a bobber bite on jig. 😁 - Question??? Have the crappie been the bank yet for spawn? I thought 65* water was the ticket. 6 crappie, 1 Ky, 1 brown, 4 LM - 2 @ 16+ in. tho1mas 1
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted May 3, 2018 Root Admin Posted May 3, 2018 I think depending on the location on the lake, it varies because the water temp was still too cold just last week. Even though the temp is now right, it may take a little time to get ready to go. It has been a late, and a quick warm up. They've been waiting for weeks for the water to warm up. The crappies I caught in Long Creek last evening are ready and have started. But I bet some in other areas might already be done.
top_dollar Posted May 4, 2018 Posted May 4, 2018 That keitech skinny, 2, 2.5, and 3 as well as the 2.8 fat are the best crappie baits ive ever used. I love those things.
