Deadstream Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 Sounds like somebody needs an appointment with wrench.

stuartsx5 Posted May 11, 2018 Author Posted May 11, 2018 I take pictures of everything but unfortunately I didn't take any pics before I took it to him the first time. He did mention a pin holding the float was bad and he had to find another. Maybe he meant another carb.... Earl Stuart fishin is livin

What he meant to say was....."Hey I'm a bonehead and I tried to drive the float pin out the wrong way, didn't know that it only comes out from left to right, and I busted the pin tower on one side, so I had to go dig through the scrap pile to find another carb that would mount on a Force". 🙄 Did he charge you for it? 176champion 1
stuartsx5 Posted May 11, 2018 Author Posted May 11, 2018 No. Or the final bill was the same as the quote anyway. I'm gonna go to the shop and measure right quick I will let you know. Earl Stuart fishin is livin
fishinwrench Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 Take something like a pen compass and see if the Venturi (narrowest part of the carb throat) is the same on both carbs.
176champion Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 My bet is they are not the same carbs or matching carb's... I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Bruce Philips

stuartsx5 Posted May 11, 2018 Author Posted May 11, 2018 So, I think the venturis are the same, put a compass in the top one and set it then in the bottom and it for the same. Could this have run like this? My problem is i have no proof it was like this before. Anyway, I guess the question is should replace this top carb or just work with it? Top pic is of the Frankenstein the bottom is of the bottom stock carb numbers if that helps. Earl Stuart fishin is livin
fishinwrench Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 Top carb should be.... Bottom carb should be..... If Venturi is the same as the bottom carb then you probably should open them up and be sure that these... which are #15 in the diagram below are the same. And that the bowl screw gaskets (#16) are both there. Alot of guys unknowingly only put one on the outside....They absolutely need to sandwich the bowl as shown here... so that the immulsion tube can properly do it's job. If all of that is in order then I see no reason why the Frankenstein carb won't be ok. Idle mixture settings will just have to be set by ear, rather than synced.....not a real big deal. I'd go ahead and just remove the choke plate and its shaft though.
