New to Stockton Lake

My family and I are new to fishing at Stockton Lake. My son and I went fishing yesterday and got skunked. Today was a much better day, caught 6 bass. I would like to know is how to locate crappie and what to use to catch them. I have little children and I think they would much rather catch them than work hard at catching bass. Also I have never fished for Walleye, I'll take any advice. Thanks

I caught crappie yesterday off steep banks with a chartreuse road runner drifted deep and slow, they were hitting probably 10-15 feet deep near highpoint.

We caught a few yesterday in Sons Creek trolling out in the middle. They were suspended about 20-30 feet deep. biggest one was 14 inches.

They are moving into the river channels and transitioning out to deeper water.  Found some today around hawker point area.  Suspended 10-20 ft deep in 30-40 ft of water.  Caught them on size 7 flicker shads. Had to cover a lot of water to get a 3 man limit.

Easiest way to catch some walleye that doesn't take any fancy equipment use a quarter or 1/8 ounce jig with a half a night crawler and bounce in along the bottom from 12 to 20 ft of water on a point.  One with the river channel swinging in close to it. Will put some walleye in the boat.

On a slow day try crickets on a shady bluff. Some hard tugging bluegill is always fun for kids. You can fish the deep side of the boat with a jig and night crawler and may land a nice walleye.

Minnows , Minnows , Minnows , Minnows , Minnows , -- - EVERY THING in the lake likes minnows... a small split shot about 6-8 inches above a # 1 or 2 hook and the little ones will be "hooked" on fishing for life...

Type "Walleye" in the search box in upper right corner of forum page and you'll find lots of info. Search particularly for entries dated for the time of year you're fishing. Personally - multiple applications with half crawler and keeping it simple. Heading into summer, 10 - 20 ft near bluff ends with channel swings close and the flats areas with close access to deep water. Similar to shooting a bow, focus on key spot(s) rather than on a broad target area IF you have a good map or a fish finder showing structure.

For the kids I would use minnows and anchor/tie up in timber near mouth of a main arm cove. Nights can be good under a light. You can also troll jigs like a roadrunner or 3" grub along the edge of flats and have a chance to catch almost anything.
