gurzik Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 I’ve heard of Ozark Sharks, but not Gators!! It was a close call 😯 Johnsfolly 1
skeeter Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 LMAO ! Wait a minute...thought this was Shark Week ?  😉 But on a serious issue: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2018/07/25/girl-catches-piranha-like-fish-oklahoma-lake/839107002/ Some idiot has released Pacu that are related to Pirhana. Hope it was just the one.....
gurzik Posted July 28, 2018 Author Posted July 28, 2018 I’ve heard rumors of them being in LOZ, but not really sure. Be careful in little Aunts Creek!!
shark bait Posted July 30, 2018 Posted July 30, 2018 Pacu are related to piranha but don't go after people...BUT, if there is not much vegetation or berries for them to eat I would advise men not to skinny dip. They have been known to go for men's "berries." If you catch one while fishing they are excellent eating as is piranha. The bigger the pacu the better. They get up to about 90 lbs. I have caught one that was about 30 lbs. As they get bigger the red goes away. We ate them a lot in Bolivia. Seemed like the bigger ones can get a bit aggressive.

Was that the one that took place in Africa or India? If I remember right it was in a country where it has become an invasive species. From the first grade on up through high school we all (native and missionary kids) swam in those waters with pacu and piranha and never had an incident with pacu. Piranha is a diferent story. I lived in the jungles of both Peru and Bolivia. Becky B
