oneshot Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 Does anyone seriously fish for Catfish here on the Niangua River? I had some Guys by me one time Catfishing kept catching Trout and no one had a Trout Permit. Then I was fishing over at Pomme de Terre and a woman there said they fish for Catfish all the time on the Niangua River. In over 20 years I have caught two. oneshot
fishinwrench Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 Pretty much a waste of time if you ask me. But I did catch a 5 pound Flathead in the riffle at Mountain creek once on a mudbug fly. At first glance I thought I had hooked a world record Hellbender. The deep bluff hole just above Riverfront campground has channel cat and gar swimming around in it.
oneshot Posted August 8, 2018 Author Posted August 8, 2018 Well I went this morning and caught one small Channel Catfish. So yes can catch them but not a bunch. oneshot

oneshot Posted August 10, 2018 Author Posted August 10, 2018 I think I rather fish for Suckers in the Niangua. I have caught some Catfish while Sucker Fishing so all is Good. oneshot
