Does anyone seriously fish for Catfish here on the Niangua River?

I had some Guys by me one time Catfishing kept catching Trout and no one had a Trout Permit. Then I was fishing over at Pomme de Terre and a woman there said they fish for Catfish all the time on the Niangua River.

In over 20 years I have caught two.

Pretty much a waste of time if you ask me.   But I did catch a 5 pound Flathead in the riffle at Mountain creek once on a mudbug fly.  At first glance I thought I had hooked a world record Hellbender.

The deep bluff hole just above Riverfront campground has channel cat and gar swimming around in it.

Well I went this morning and caught one small Channel Catfish. So yes can catch them but not a bunch.

I think I rather fish for Suckers in the Niangua. I have caught some Catfish while Sucker Fishing so all is Good.
