Like the title says I never it was here. I live between Stockton and Table Rock so naturally i’m always fishing close to  the house ( mostly stockton)

I had to work in Bowling Green this week and kinda stumbled onto Mark Twain by accident. So I’ve been looking at maps of it and like the looks of it.

My question is how is the bass fishing up here?

There are bass, crappie, catfish, and walleye in it.   Occasionally it produces some pretty good weights, but reports of slow fishing far outnumber the good ones.  It was a super fishery in it's heyday, then took a terrible downturn for some reason.   I haven't been on it for almost 20 years.

I agree with Wrench.  I live in Mexico and have fished it for some 30 years now.  A better crappie than bass lake.  I still enjoy going but don't expect great fishing on any trip.  See link to South Fork Resort's post.  Ron's blog is good for up to date conditions and action.  Note a recent bass tournament produced some pretty pathetic catches and these are guys that generally know and fish the like pretty well.  It can get high and muddy after heavy rains.

Can't get link to work.  Just google southforkresort.

It's a mostly shallow turbid reservoir with not a lot of structure.  I killed a lot of ducks there and caught some decent catfish in the spring.

My uncle and I used to hit it once a year for crappie and usually caught limits. That was 15-20 years ago. Said to hear it’s gone downhill.
