dan hufferd Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 I have a lowrance hds 8 non touch no lss, I am running it using the motor guide universal transducer in the trolling motor, 2d sonar only. I also have a lowrance hdi 7 elite, running the sonar/downscan factory traducer. My question (I don't have comparative pictures yet) the 2d sonar on my elite is way less pixelated than the hds. Are these hds units just like this or is the lack of the structure affecting the clarity? I have jacked around with the setting, it is usable, I guess I expect it to be at least as good as the elite? Also the view n the hds seems zoomed in more than the elite. Next time I am out I will get a video made. Thanks
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 Is your Elite a Chirp? I noticed a big difference in my old HDS7 and my elite 7 chirp

Dutch Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 I suspect that the universal transducer may be causing the issue. If you have access to a regular Lowrance transducer you might hook it up to the hds and see if that solves the problem. dan hufferd 1
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 I use the built in Ducer on my XI5 for my elite and it is very clear. I think Dan is running the Xi5 too. Running an extra ducer is a pain on those motors, just no good way to do it dan hufferd 1
Dutch Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 I am using the Precision Sonar cable guard on my ulterra with the total scan transducer. It is working just fine for me. dan hufferd 1
