Hunter75 Posted May 2, 2019 Posted May 2, 2019 Was wanting to look for crappie tomorrow, anyone been up there recently? With all the rain was wondering if it’s even worth the trip? Corps site shows it up 6.5 feet. Water was really clear last weekend but I bet it’s pretty muddy now.
Lifes2Short Posted May 2, 2019 Posted May 2, 2019 This was posted on the Stockton crappie page on Facebook: Cc up to mutton looks like a swamp. Up around state park is murky and a real slow bite. Lake is supposed to go up a few more feet by Monday.
Members Bigfishes1 Posted May 3, 2019 Members Posted May 3, 2019 When you say swamp do you mean it’s just muddy or do you mean it’s muddy and full of trees
MrGiggles Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 Put in at Masters tonight. Water is clear in the main lake. Some debris in coves. Water was more stained further down the lake. I only caught two crappie. Both females, 20 feet of water. One full of eggs, one not. Not sure what to think of that. dan hufferd 1 -Austin
Rootman Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 Does anyone know what the lake is like around old state park? Ha the muddy water made it all the way to that area?
Rootman Posted May 5, 2019 Posted May 5, 2019 Put in at old state park, water was extremely clear, could see down about 8 ft. Water temp was anywhere from 58-63. We had no luck anywhere, caught s small walleye and 1 crappie up in brush on a jig. Hope others had much better luck than us. Was surprised how clear the water was, but was very high Old dog 417 1
