AR Huzgr Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Am likely retiring in 2-3 years and considering moving to the NWA area. Currently live in KC. Have stayed "on" Beaver lake via VRBO, but when factoring in daily life, probably want to be closer to civilization for things such as stores, medical, churches, etc. We have stayed at lost bridge village but am thinking that probably too far out. Will be taking several trips there to explore more, but thought I'd check with this group if they had any general thoughts on living in the bv, Bentonville, Rogers communities regarding access to the lake. I'd assume I would probably be fishing 2-3 times per week. Would prefer to get a boat slip somewhere so I wouldn't have to trailer each time. Is the "commute" to the lake for those areas reasonable or would I be better to look closer, such as pea ridge or prairie Creek area? Thanks in advance for input on areas to explore! Tight lines!
Quillback Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 I live in Bella Vista on the east side and it's 40 minutes to Prairie Creek and about the same to Indian Creek (COE parks on Beaver). Living in Pea Ridge would put you about 15-20 minutes closer to the lake. And if you lived in Prairie Creek you're 5 minutes away. If being close to Beaver is a big priority then I would probably not choose Bella Vista.
AR Huzgr Posted May 8, 2019 Author Posted May 8, 2019 Thanks for the feedback. That is what I need to sort out. How far from lake! Are you aware of any negatives to the pea ridge or prairie Creek areas?
Quillback Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 I don't know of any negatives, but I don't know a lot about either area as far as what it is like to live there.
Ron Burgundy Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Prairie Creek is where I would choose, I don’t live there but you are just minutes away from Hospital, great food , tackle shops etc.......PC good location on the lake also. Gone but not forgotten Martin Ford
AR Huzgr Posted May 8, 2019 Author Posted May 8, 2019 Thanks for info! I know on the map, PC looks good. Just not to familiar with the area. Looks to be some nice housing near golf course. Do you know if you can purchase a private slip if you don't live on lake? Or perhaps easier to rent, if available.

tjm Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Pea Ridge is a rural town not much changed in the last 50 years and lots less traffic than Bella Vista, which was purpose built as a retirement community/POA, and has grown the population far beyond the road capacity. I live about 4 miles from BV and 18 from PR and would chose Pea Ridge over Bella Vista hands down as a place to live. I'd chose Rogers or Avoca or Garfield or Clifty over the BV POA and traffic jams. You should look at Little Flock too.

Saw some nice new construction near pea ridge golf course. Might be an option. Wasn't sure about air traffic noise from the Rodgers executive airport with possibly being in flight path. Will try to talk to people in that area. Sorry to make a non fishing thread but fishing is the ultimate root of my move! Thanks again. Will check out some of the areas you mentioned
