gonefishin
How are you dealing with the current gasoline prices? Are you driving less, spending less on other items so you can keep on driving, did you buy a more fuel efficient car or are you charging it? If the prices don't bother you we don't really need to hear from you. I would rather be fishin'. "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Dutch
I switched to diesel a few years ago when it was much cheaper than gasoline. Then it went up. Now it is back cheaper. As for the boat I choose my launch sites and don't do much running + I keep the speed down. I rarely do WOT anymore.
Terry Beeson
Commitments made it difficult to slow down the driving the last couple of weeks, but we did make a conscientious decision to stay home this holiday weekend and grill in the back yard instead of driving all over creation to "get away." With the job situation, I will have to wait until things are better, but I am looking to buy a more fuel efficient car to commute to work. I'm also thinking of giving up driving the big Dodge 4x4 down the driveway to get the mail and walk instead... That shouldn't be too difficult a walk since my driveway is only 30 feet long... Chief Grey Bear
You bet they are affecting me. I have slowed my driving way down. I don't use the big slab unless I have to. I have started using the old hiways again though it may take a few minutes longer, it saves me a butt load of gas. Terry: You are too dang funny!! I had to give up driving my monster truck even tho it wasn't really all that bad at 3 gallons to the mile. I would rather be fishin'. The Caddis
My wife and I both drive Honda's, so we have fuel efficient cars. I don't make that trip across town for just one item anymore. I look at it this way. I used to be able to go somewhere for a nickel a mile, now it is a cool 15 cents. Add that to the cost of the goods you are going to purchase etc and you may change your mind. Growing up our cable bill was say $40, now it is $85, along with internet access, cell phones, ipods, we monthly fee ourselves to the poorhouse. What's a couple of extra bucks for gas compared to these increases/additions?

snagged in outlet 3
I mentioned this on another thread about gas prices. It's not the cost, it's what I get for the same money. I live in the St. Louis Metro area. Forget trips to the lake and trout fishing when round trips cost $120-$150 per trip just for gas. Add to that the hotel cost and a weekend trip can top $300 pretty quick. I stay home and drive to the golf club a few miles away, play golf, fish in the ponds and take a dip in the pool afterwards. When I'm done I can take the family out for dinner after their day at the pool. For the same money as one fishing trip I can pay the dues for a month at the golf club and play golf every day while the rest of the family hangs at the pool or plays golf with me. Another plus is it's hard to get killed on the interstate on holiday weekends if you're not on the interstate. A lot less stress too. From poolside, SIO3. Members Rick F
Accelerating a little slower and getting off the gas a little earlier. With gas at 3.60 a gallon I need too. 65.00 fill ups are making me drive a little more careful.
