Members tracman86 Posted July 14, 2019 Members Posted July 14, 2019 Fished the Stockton Friday night derby on 7/12. Wow the night bite is almost non existent. Had 24 boats competing with the winning weight being 9.72 lbs. My partner and myself had no fish and really no bites to speak of very frustrating! Hope they keep pulling water. Daryk Campbell Sr 1
Dutch Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 That is precisely why I am not fishing down there this summer.
waterpossum Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 That duplicated our night, although a few boats came in with multiple fish, just nothing real big. Maybe its an anomaly, but I think especially after dark with all the water that poured into the lake and decaying vegetation there is an oxygen depletion. I would venture a guess that the majority of fish were caught before 9.
Members Green pumpkin Posted July 16, 2019 Members Posted July 16, 2019 We never had a bite before dark and the three keepers we caught all came in about 10 min after 1115. But other than that flurry of bites, it was slow.

Old plug Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 Maybe I was serious If I recall Friday was first night past full moon. Fish dropped down her one LOZ as well. always does
Mhyde Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 Friday night we had one keeper around 7:30ish and then the other 3 keepers were caught from 10:30pm- 12am. also had a flurry of walleye and a few whites after. dark. we covered a ton of water for those 4 keepers we weighed in. Thank goodness Kentucky's are now 12" !!!!!!
Walcrabass Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Mhyde, Glad you put some of those Kentuckies in the livewell for your weigh in.......... I know the tournaments are catch and release and I think that is great................... but................ in the case of the Kentuckies I believe they should be allowed to go home with the Angler or be given to others. This would greatly help the awesome Biologist that instituted the 12" rule in his effort to control the Kentuckies in the lake. I am asking all of you tournament guys to ask for this to be instituted in your tournament rules. I hope this can be legally accomplished ................................... Walcrabass P.S. I also hope that the Biologist for Stockton and the Biologist for Table Rock are good buddies. Maybe the Stockton guy can influence him with the same 12" rule for Kentuckies on Table Rock. Actually I would take a 10 or 11" rule as they spawn at such a small size !!!!

Going to have to get it ingrained in my mind to do that. I have told myself and my dad when one of us takes the kids and they catch some legal Spots to let them bring them home, just not something I've gotten used to doing, I still second guess myself when putting a 12incher in the box.
