I don't feel unsafe navigating at night BECAUSE I have a spotlight and I'm not ashamed to use it.   I'll be able to see, and be seen, just fine... That's the point.

And yes, laws that defy common sense will be broken.  Copperheads in my yard either get shot or chopped up too fine for kraut, and I bet they do in your yard too.  I'd welcome a robbery attempt by you. Go for it 😁

Headlights don't hurt anyones "night vision" on the highway on a dark rainy night. Matter of fact it is against the law NOT to have them there,  so why is that any different ?   Your snide pissy comments, and your perception of "navigation laws" are just ignorant IMO.    The #1 rule of navigation is: Don't run into things, and don't get run over by anyone else.

I mean, I understand that you don't need a spotlight to putt around the dam area of TR or LO (who does?) but come up here where I fish at night and see how you do crossing these stump filled flats.

headlight do not bother you on a highway because you have illumination both ways.  that does not happen on water.  so, yes, you are blinded by headlights and spot lights on water, and those navigation laws were written a long time before the both of us, and by folks with common sense knowledge.  right now, whether you think so, you seem to be missing some.

if you are going through a stump flat, you need to be idling anyway.  keep doing what you are doing, but you are just increasing the chances of being the reason that an accident happened.

It would if everybody had them.  And IMO they should.

what part of the water does not illuminate like a highway does do you not understand??  even most black top absorb enough light, you have to have very reflective paint or reflectors to illuminate where you are going.  are you going to stripe the water for us?  then it might work.

I think you're stoned.  And you've forgotten that highways aren't always dry.

but they do have reflective paint and markers.  way back before the reflective paint and markers, it was very hard to navigate a wet road, especially a black asphalt road.  some concrete roads were not as bad.  and, yes, headlights are more blinding on a rainy night.

since you seem to like to not follow the law, can the rest of us carry, and put your lights out so we can see??  seems like a fair solution.  but, that is not the solution.  the solution is to follow navigation rules.
