Members Hans1 Posted July 25, 2019 Members Posted July 25, 2019 Hi y'all, I am new here and this is my first post. I am planning fishing near the paydown access this weekend (hopefully the water isn't too muddy) and I was wondering if there is anyone who fly fishes this part of the gasconade. Since I am pretty new at fly fishing, I was wondering if what kind of patterns people have success with. Sorry if this is in the wrong section, I couldn't decide if this should go under the fly fishing or Gascondae. Thanks in advance.

Members Hans1 Posted July 25, 2019 Author Members Posted July 25, 2019 Hi Jason, thanks for the tip, but i have a clubhouse up the river from there, so I will still plan on fishing.
fishinwrench Posted July 26, 2019 Posted July 26, 2019 Think heavy. Big streamers and top-water bugs mostly, fish them hard and fast. If that fails to entertain you, or your stripping arm gets tired, a bottom hugging 3" long crawdad fly fished in the tailouts will almost always bring some action. Good luck, have fun.
Gavin Posted July 26, 2019 Posted July 26, 2019 What FW said, or go fish a nearby tributary creek were you can see them react to your flies. Can you cast 50’ w/o thinking about it? That helps.
Seth Posted July 26, 2019 Posted July 26, 2019 The water looked like chocolate milk when I crossed the 89 bridge this past Wednesday. We got some really heavy rains in that area this past Sunday.
