Al Agnew Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 Geez, I've been spending time on some of the Facebook fishing groups, and it's nice to see guys that are actually correctly identifying fish here. Those hornyheaded and red spot chubs would have been called everything from Asian carp to largemouth bass on some of the Facebook groups! I've caught a number of redhorse suckers on marabou jigs, so there's no reason why they wouldn't take a nymph drifted in front of their noses. Out here in Montana, we catch mountain suckers fairly often drifting nymphs for trout. I'd rather not catch them, because they have about the nastiest slime I've ever seen on a fish. They get big. I've caught a couple that were probably 5-6 pounds. But that slime coats your line like snot, and then hardens into boogers. Johnsfolly, chucknduck and FishnDave 2 1

I would venture to say that this is a red spot chub based upon where you caught it That's how I identified it, although there is at least one stream in this basin said to have hornyheads in the MDC inventory and I have caught some that somehow looked different. I took the picture because it is the largest that I have ever seen, so, was unsure of ID.
