wily Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 Save your money and stay at the grizzly lodge at northeast entrance...close to nature and fishing. we went 5 or 6 years ago for two weeks...the grizzly is kind of like glorified car camping but it is a great place to stay. old faithful lodge is neat...but you’ll feel like you’re at a cards game. Vendors and crowds...best thing about it is the cutthroat wine spritzer. It is hot as hell around there in July. i don’t know much about mountains but it seems like 100 yards makes a big difference...you can be one place and it’s nice...move 100 yards and it’s hot as haites the only fishing we found around old faithful was brook trout fishing in streams you could jump across...was fun but not five days worth of fun. check out grizzly lodge in silver gate...you’ll be glad you did snagged in outlet 3 1
wily Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 Another good fishing spot was Gardner river near sheapeater canyon...we lunched at lava creek typically. buy this book snagged in outlet 3 1
wily Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 There’s so many great places to fish around the northeast entrance...wolves, bear and elk are around...buffalos are everywhere...we had such a great time and saw a ton of wildlife. the falls is cool...lots of other stuff to do. But the best thing to do is just park the car...and walk the creeks and trails. No better place to do it than northeast entrance to mammoth and down to Sheepeater I liked the lake...but didn’t spend much time around it. But we did have lunch on the shore and fished...was nice but an hour or two was enough If you like nature...the lamar river valley is where you’ll want to spend your time i didn’t care for the southern part or the tetons snagged in outlet 3 1
wily Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 One more thing...on the initial drive into the park...come down thru red lodge Montana...and stop at the top of the world shop...pretty cool
