gonefishin Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 To tell the truth I have never carried a gun to go fishing! I never felt the need! But I would say Terry might be right on the pepper spray! Should work on bigfoot also! Thats just cuz you don't catch as big of fish as I do. I would rather be fishin'. "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Wayne SW/MO Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 They moved him somewhere, probably to MTNF west of Reed Springs. I'm sure they'll grab a little food and aggravate someone once in awhile, deer have been doing it for decades. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
denjac Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 I have a very funny movie of a man fighting a bear over a fish. I couldnt upload it here, but will be happy to send it to anybody that wishes to see it. Just email at boothe4640@aol.com. Worth seeing! Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. Members Old Stumbler Posted June 15, 2007 Members Posted June 15, 2007 Leonard and I were fishing at the big hole a week ago about 11 pm and it sounded like three bears coming down the penninsula toward us, crunch, crunch, splash, splash, . Well it wasn't bears. It was Michael, Eric, and Stubby. They aren't exactly night stalkers. I think they ran the bears off. I hate those "toe stumblin" rocks!!!
jdmidwest Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 The problem with pepper spray is that in Alaska you usually have a strong wind and the pepper is just seasoning and marinade for the main course, the guy with the pepper spray. Members OnTheFly Posted June 16, 2007 Members Posted June 16, 2007 Back in 1976 my grandfather and I were fishing Taney and saw a black bear one morning...have seen one over near Roaring River in the last six years as well.
Kansas Fly Fisher Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 Thanks guys! My wife just read this thread and now we won't be doing any camping at Roaring River or Taneycomo Couple years back we were all set to travel Colorado and camp our way around to save money plus have a more "rustic" adventure. That was until she realized there were bears in them there hills! This was AFTER we had packed up all the camping gear into my truck and was half way to Colorado. So we spent the next week staying in motels and having to unload and reload the truck every day. Someone PLEASSSSEEEE say this was just a "joke" so I can convince her it's okay to camp again. Members OnTheFly Posted June 16, 2007 Members Posted June 16, 2007 Tell you wife it is just a bear...she has a better chance of being bitten by a snake than SEEING a bear.
