Hopefully this thread will help people identify what they are seeing. Please share your shots too. Sorry for poor quality pics on some of these. I ended up snapping with my cell phone as Humminbird removed the feature of saving screen captures to my SD card while my lake map card is in after an update. (Grrr)

White Bass & Shad on Down Imaging and Side Scan. Notice how white bass stack vertically in the main lake.

Mega school of crappie under a dock on Lake of the Ozarks in the winter time

Side imaging shots of paddlefish. The mega school is on the Osage River below Bagnell and the other is from the James River arm of Tablerock. Notice the thickness of the two shadows on the left side of the James River shot. Those are some big bellied sow spoonies.

How exactly do you deduce the species of the returns on the pic above?

Time of year or sample of the product?

By going back and catching them. Sometimes I think I am marking crappie and it ends up being white bass, black bass or even big gizzard shad. Paddlefish on side imaging are fairly obvious since you can make out the outline of the fish.
