45acp Posted July 7, 2020 Posted July 7, 2020 Had the day off, and needed some peace and quiet time to myself, so I decided to hit LOz at Warsaw. Launched at East Bledsoe 6:30am. Soon as I got out of the dead water arm I noticed that there was very little current and thought to myself "Well, poop." Set up my first drift just downstream of the no boating zone and nailed an eater blue within 50 yards of where I started. Thought to myself "Well, maybe not poop." But I was wrong. It was poop. Spent a few hours up there dragging live 3"-4" bluegills and 4"-6" shiners. No more bites. Went down and hit the ledge on the bend below Warsaw. That spot is always good for a few fish. Nada. Fished the brush on the left bank most of the way down to the 65 bridge. Nada. Went back up thinking I'd head home, then the dim bulb lit up and I decided to check the generation schedule. Said they were going to start another unit at 2:00pm. So I stuck around to see if the bite would pick up with the current. Since I'd not had good results drifting and dragging I decided to anchor up and just sit. Between 1:00pm and 2:00pm I caught one more eater on a shiner, one more on a bluegill, and one on a live crayfish. Lost one of them at the boat. Caught a dozen or so fiddler size channels on nightcrawlers, and missed a few hookups on the other stuff. Zero bites on cut jumping carp. 2nd unit fired up right on schedule and not another bite after that. Stayed til 3:00pm and called it quits. Better luck next time...
